Thoughts on American Women

Jared Bodine’s blog about American women was a landmark in blogging. I have never seen so many passionate responses to any blog.

I wanted to throw my two cents in, but decided to devote an entire blog to my thoughts about what Jared wrote.

First, I have found that people are often critical of things that they know nothing about; hold in high regard things they know very little about; and are critical of those things that they know intimately.

From this perspective it seems only natural that he would be very critical of American, or western, girls because he has the most experience and knows the most about them. He would think highly of Asian girls because he is least experienced and only sees the positive. But if this theory holds, as he becomes more familiar with Asian girls, he will be more aware of their shortcomings (Let’s face it, no matter who we are, we all have them).

I try to maintain an open mind and realize that there is no such thing as a perfect man or woman. If there were perfect men or women among us, there is little chance that they would want to have anything to do with any of us (Those reading this).

What many of us do, whether consciously or subconsciously, is weigh the pros of an individual against their cons and then make a decision about whether or not to continue seeing them.

I think that there are wonderful women in every culture, from the Eskimos to the Middle Easterners; from the Europeans to the Asians that would be great to have a relationship with.

The important thing is to not create stereotypes, and to judge, yes judge, a person on individual merit and not broad stereotypes whether created by others or us.

On another note, I am back from a brief blogging sabbatical and will be posting both here and at my blog www.chrisrusch.blogspot.com. See you there.

American Woman...

Hey, in case you are wondering, the party is over here.
